HEALTHY LIVING GIVES BACK THIS THANKSGIVING

Today Healthy Living and Café in South Burlington announced that it will be donating a portion of each pre-order turkey sold this month to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. The donation will go towards stocking the Food Shelf with non-perishable food items for families in need this holiday season. Healthy Living’s pre-order sale on local, free-range and antibiotic/hormone-free turkeys will be running from now through Friday, November 21st and customers can order over the phone, in-store or online at www.healthyliving.com/vermont.

“Our community is such a vibrant, wonderful place…we want to give back and strengthen it whenever possible.” said Katy Lesser, Healthy Living’s Founder. “We’re thankful to be able to partner with an organization like the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf to provide food and support to Vermonters who need help this holiday season.”

Healthy Living customers support the Food Shelf year-round; a food drive bin where shoppers can drop off canned and non-perishable goods is always located right by the exit after check-out. On turkey pick-up day (Tuesday, November 25th), Healthy Living will be hosting a food drive with the Food Shelf to help ramp up donations leading into the holidays. Additional bins will be placed around the entrance and the store will be debuting the new “Food Shelf Wish List For Thanksgiving Joy” that will include recommended non-perishable items around the store that patrons can buy and donate. The Food Shelf will be onsite that day to help with the food drive and to provide information to people about the local non-profit.

“At the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf we aim to provide every food insecure household in Chittenden County with a Thanksgiving meal,” said Rob Meehan, The Food Shelf’s Director. “These Thanksgiving meals can help families get through this holiday season even as they are facing increased gas, heating, and food costs. The Food Shelf is grateful to have a community partner like Healthy Living to help us come together to make sure no family goes hungry on such an important holiday.”
